Overview
The Energy Planning Unit is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, development, and implementation of energy-related initiatives within the Ministry of Line and Phoenix Islands Development.
The Unit contributes to the development of reliable, sustainable, affordable, and resilient energy systems that support communities, public services, infrastructure, and economic development across the Line and Phoenix Islands.
The Energy Planning Unit works closely with government agencies, development partners, utilities, communities, technical specialists, and other stakeholders to identify energy needs and support appropriate energy solutions. This division consist of two unit, Energy and Power unit.
Power Unit ⚡
The Power Unit supports the planning and development of electricity generation and power infrastructure. It contributes to reliable power supply planning and supports the development and improvement of power systems serving island communities.

- Power generation planning and development.
- Electricity supply and distribution planning.
- Power infrastructure development and improvement.
- Assessment of current and future electricity demand.
- Support for power system reliability and resilience.
- Coordination of power-related development projects.
- Technical planning and assessment of power infrastructure.
- Coordination with relevant utilities, government agencies, and development partners.

The Energy Unit focuses on broader energy development, renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable energy planning, and initiatives that support the transition toward cleaner and more resilient energy systems.

The Power Unit and Energy Unit work together to support an integrated approach to energy development. While the Power Unit focuses primarily on electricity and power infrastructure, the Energy Unit addresses broader energy planning, renewable energy, efficiency, and sustainability.
